Supplemental (non-vacancy) Recruitment Activities:


  • WZBG participated in the Connecticut Broadcasting Association’s annual Scholarship award program. WZBG runs a schedule of promotional announcements beginning in December 2016 through March 2017 encouraging students to apply. General Manager Jennifer Parsons also participates on the Scholarship Committee, reviewing applications and helping to choose winners.
  • WZBG General Manager participated in YEA (Young Entrepreneur Academy, Career Meet and Greet at Northwestern Connecticut Community College, January 31, 2017. Participated in a panel discussion with other media representatives regarding employment opportunities.
  • WZBG co-sponsored the 14th Annual Job Fair with the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce on March 30, 2017 (Torrington CT, City Hall). WZBG ran a commercial schedule promoting the event and encouraging people to attend. WZBG also supported the event with news stories promoting the event.  General Manager attended the event to meet and speak with people interested in broadcasting (2).  All other candidates were interested in clerical.


  • On going Internship Program provides training and opportunities designed to educate students in the field of broadcasting. WZBG’s website offers information on applying for this program. During applicable period:


~One high school students (Jr) from Northwestern Regional High School (Region 7) participated in internship program. This student asked to continue her internship into 2017 after fulfilling school requirements.  She was with us until May 2017, spending between 3 and 5 hours each week.  She participated in on air activities, promotional and shadowed sales.


~Bard College at Simon Rock student spent three days shadowing PM Drive Host during July 2017,  observing board op, news writing and on air talent.
