INTERNSHIPS:

If you are interested in broadcasting, an internship could get you off to a great start! WZBG offers internships for students interested in the radio industry. Interns are NOT paid. Students at any college level can apply for an internship, high school seniors can apply as well if the high school has an internship program. Internships usually last for one semester, however, other arrangements can be made if necessary. An interview may be required.

To apply, send a resume along with a letter of intent (including the hours you would be available and the department in which you would prefer to intern) to:

WZBG
Attn: Jennifer Parsons, General Manager
49 Commons Drive

Programming Interns

Get involved with what goes on behind the mic during a local broadcast. You will observe the on-air jock in studio, learn the procedures of the show, learn about operating the board, how to develop a broadcast voice, observe contests, and assist in music selection. You will often be guest announcers as part of the show, and get involved with commercial production and on-air production by operating the broadcast board.

News Interns

You will be provided a brief overview in gathering, writing, editing, and constructing newscasts with local emphasis. Interns are also exposed to news services including CBS and the Associated Press.

Promotions Interns

You will assist the Promotions Director in coordinating events, on-air giveaways, establish contacts for various promotional products, (phone skills a plus and computer knowledge is very helpful). You will also often organize promotional items for WZBG, and be present at LIVE remote broadcasts, as well as administrative tasks.

Sales Interns

You will have the opportunity to observe the WZBG sales staff as they go through the steps of putting together a successful advertising campaign from the proposals and appointments to the copy writing and production.
